The East Texas Restaurant Association, Smith County Medical Society Alliance and East Texas Communities Foundation have joined forces in an initiative that will help both local restaurants and healthcare workers. The Tyler Area Healthcare Worker Support Fund was created to allow donors a chance to provide meals to hospital staff working the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis while supporting local, Smith County restaurants.
"Every day we are inspired by the healthcare workers who are going above and beyond to make sure our communities are healthy and safe," said Kyle Penney, President of East Texas Communities Foundation. "We all have a part to play in overcoming this virus. ETCF is pleased to be able to offer the public a way to lend a hand in providing a meal for our medical community while supporting our local restaurants and their employees."
HOW IT WORKS:
Donations are received by East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF) with donors receiving an acknowledgment for their charitable contribution. Smith County Medical Society Alliance (SCMSA) will coordinate meal requirements with local hospital officials and place orders for food and delivery. The East Texas Restaurant Association (ETRA) will connect SCMSA with local, independent restaurateurs allowing local contributions to stay local.
